Back to natural ! A claim that we hear often lately. From nutrition to design and architecture, from ecological transition to reasonable development, we assist to an increasing interest towards a more natural and organic lifestyle.
My questioning in this article is about how the idea of NATURAL apply to movement in general and more specifically how going back to natural can be apply to sport, physical practice, yoga or fitness ? Researches on the topic agree on the fact that natural movement is the way a healthy body moves. Natural movement starts at the core. This means that before any part of the body moves, the center of the body move first.
This is not the case of the majority of modern bodies. Blockages, tensions that the modern average body shows are the clue of this lost of connection with pure and original movement. We tend to consider ourself normal, but unfortunately normal it’s not natural and the less we move naturally the more we loose this connection.
Functional movement and its integration in physical activity is an optimal way to recover the natural body, improve mobility and strengthen the muscles that we need to strengthen in order to move safely and naturally again !
